We love traveling over the holidays as a family, especially somewhere tropical. The beach, warm weather and fun, family activities were my must-haves for the trip which is exactly what we found when traveling to Cabo. We knew it would be the perfect place to relax, explore, and unwind from work just a little. The views were stunning, the restaurants were spectacular, and a boat day is just good for the soul. We can’t wait to take another trip there in the future!
We stayed at the beautiful Garza Blanca Resort & Spa and we would recommend them to anyone looking for a calm stay right on the beach. They have an outdoor pool as well, but the real selling point is the private beach area guests have access to. They were attentive and accommodating to all of our needs and you really just can’t beat this view!
We even got to ride horses along the beach and it was such a fun addition to our trip!
One of our favorite things we did was take a cooking class at Flora Farms. This is our third time doing this and it is a perfect activity for the whole family! You get to work with a chef to make authentic pico de gallo and salsa and then eat a delicious lunch. It’s such a fun experience and the kids love feeling like they are real chefs. The food and drinks were so fresh and my mouth is still watering thinking about that lunch!
Flora Farms is such a special organic farm-to-table experience. It is a 25-acre working farm that prides itself on manual craftsmanship and a philosophy of holistic growth. They cultivate a diverse tapestry of over 100 vegetable and herb varieties and usher in an abundance of fruits, including pineapple, mangos, papayas, guanabana, soursop, and bananas in late summer and fall. Today, it’s the proud home of Flora’s Field Kitchen, the Farm Spa, the Farm Bar, Flora Farms Grocery, and Flora Farms Celebrations. The farm also encompasses the Shoppes at Flora Farms and the Culinary Cottages. All working together to give unique experiences to visitors and give back to their community.
Another excursion we all loved was our Arch tour, snorkeling, and boat day booked through Cabo Yacht Life. We love a day spent on the water as a family and being on the water in Cabo is hard to beat. They provided snorkeling gear and paddleboards for us, which the kids especially loved. The deck was perfect for sunbathing, getting some Kindle time in, and taking in those majestic views. Seeing The Arch of Cabo San Lucas in person is a must-do if you travel here in the future. It is a distinctive granitic rock formation at the southern tip of Cabo that stands as a symbol of the region’s natural splendor and timeless allure. Unbelievably beautiful in person. This was one of our favorite days on the trip because we just got to relax and really appreciate the pristine water.
Now let’s talk about the most important thing on vacations: the food! We went to some incredible restaurants during our time in Cabo that I definitely recommend.
Metate: This Michelin-starred restaurant serves up Mexican cuisine with a gorgeous outdoor seating area. Everything from the dishware to the ambience is curated to perfection and it was such a nice night together as a family.
Got to have a couple of date nights with Chris and both spots were spectacular! Chris’s parents came on the trip with us and were gracious enough to hang with the kids so we could have some time to ourselves and it was perfect.
Rosa Negra: Our first date night had a super cool vibe. This was more of a club/restaurant with loud music and delicious food. A switch up from the calm environments of the other restaurants we went to and we loved it.
Manta: This restaurant was unique and inspired by the simplicity of the desert. It was conceived as a black box that focuses on the views from one of the most desirable and secluded beaches in Cabo. They focus on seafood and really deliver the flavor.
Finally, on our last night we got to go to a restaurant I have been trying to get a reservation at for years!
Sunset Monalisa: We were lucky enough to get a sunset reservation for our whole family. This Michelin-star restaurant has incredible views overlooking the arch and experiencing that during golden hour is unforgettable.
To cap it all off, we even got to celebrate Reese turning five in Mexico! She is our rainbow baby and is such a blessing to our family so we were so excited we got to all be together in such a beautiful place for her big day.
Overall, this was one of our top favorite family vacations. The food, the family experiences, the beach, and clear ocean water…it all made for the perfect week. We got to enjoy quality time together, and Chris and I were even able to have a little alone time to focus on each other. This trip was exactly what we needed, and I cannot recommend Cabo enough.
