Do you have a place you visit during the holidays that makes you feel like Christmas? For me and my family, it’s the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville! We go every year and this year is no different. It’s the perfect place to get lost in the lights, enjoy delicious treats, ice skate, marvel at the ice sculptures, and enjoy festive activities with your family. I wanted to show you all the amazing things we’ve enjoyed at Opryland over the years and encourage you to make the journey if possible!
The Activities
So what all is there to do?
Lights: When I say you can get lost in the lights, I really mean it. The Opryland is famous for having 9 acres of extravagant decor with over three million Christmas lights on display. You can walk the halls and the grounds yourself, or you can hop on their riverboat inside the hotel and travel through the water surrounded by incredible decorations. No matter how many times we come to the Opryland hotel, it still blows my mind how vast and built to perfection these light displays are. There’s something about it that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another world.
Fountain show: Our kids are big fans of the fountain light show that they put on in one of the atriums and my husband and I love it too. It is set to Christmas music, and how they blend a light show with epic water geysers is truly mesmerizing. The height these fountains shoot into the air is impressive and it’s a nice moment to rest and take something in as a family before heading back into the hustle and bustle of the other festive activities throughout the property.
Ice!: This is some of the most impressive ice sculpting I have ever seen. This attraction can’t be missed if it’s your first time celebrating the holidays at Opryland. It’s 17,000 square feet of breathtakingly detailed ice sculptures depicting scenes from the classic Frosty the Snowman. 6,000 blocks of ice were hand-carved by 40 sculptors and it is truly mindblowing how intricate the scenes are. This is a ticketed event, but it is so worth it!
Ice Sports: Ice skating is a must-do for our family when we go to Opryland and the vibes at the skating rink there are truly magical. If you aren’t the skating type, but still want to experience a snowy thrill, they have ice tubing as well. Or if you want to spend a little more time, they do offer ice skating lessons so you can fly around without fear. It’s such a fun family bonding experience for us and definitely puts us in the Christmas spirit!
Festivities: There is genuinely a never-ending supply of festive activities for you to do. Meet Santa, decorate gingerbread houses, take a carriage ride, or play Christmas games. It is all available!
I cannot recommend Christmas at Opryland enough as a perfect way to spend the holidays with your family. There is truly something for all ages and has created so many special memories for ours.
