Vegas Trip 2021

It was so good to be able to travel back to Vegas this past week. I usually travel there 2 times a year for markets but with the pandemic in 2020, the fall market was canceled. So was the spring Vegas market so this was the first time returning in over 18 months. It was great to be back. I always LOVE going to Vegas for the great food and because there is so much to do. This time, Chris and I decided to go a few days early to have a little time alone. We rarely do that so thought it would be good to have a few days before work to relax and hang out.

We flew to Vegas on Friday and landed in the afternoon. Once we stepped outside, we were hit with the hottest blaze ever. It was around 110 degrees outside and I was in a plaid shirt and jeans. It was 75 degrees when we had left Kentucky so I really wasn’t prepared for the extreme heat. I always freeze on planes so I had to dress warm so I immediately ran to change once we got into our room.

We usually stay at the Venetian hotel but had to change to the Palazzo this time. I honestly like the Venetian so much better. They do connect so you would think their rooms would be the same but I was much more unimpressed with the Palazzo side. The only plus is the food options. So if you ever go to Vegas and have to pick between the two hotels, pick the Venetian!

Mizumi

The first night we didn’t have any dinner reservations so we decided to try out Mizumi which is a Japanese restaurant in the Wynn hotel. We couldn’t get seats at a table but the bar and sushi bar were first come first serve and we were able to get a spot there to enjoy dinner. We had a few sushi rolls and split 4 oz of the Japanese Waygu.  It’s my favorite type of steak so I wanted to try out just a little to compare it to other steakhouses. It was AMAZING. 100% worth the money. It was so light and I can still taste it now even a week later. The sushi was also phenomenal. It was so fresh and made right in front of us at the sushi bar. This quickly became one of my top restaurant picks in Vegas. If you love Japanese food then be sure to check this one out.

Canyon Ranch

On Saturday morning, Chris and I got up and went to the gym for a little bit before our Spa appointment at Canyon Ranch. The mask mandate did go back into effect in Vegas so we did have to wear them while working out. This made me only want to workout for just a little bit since it was hard to run on a treadmill with a mask. Once the workout was done, I grabbed a juice from Truth and Tonic which is a vegan restaurant beside the gym. We walked over to the spa and got changed into our robes for our massages.

Chris and I booked a couples massage since it had been so long since we had one. It was so needed. I get really bad back pain and have tight muscles so I enjoyed every second of the massage. We also sat in the Salt Grotto and Sauna before grabbing lunch at their Cafe. After lunch, we went back to our rooms to clean up and get ready for our evening fun with dinner and a concert.

Cut

One of my very FAVORITE restaurants of all time is Cut by Wolfgang Puck. It’s a high end steakhouse that we’ve been going to for years. It is a fine dining restaurant in Vegas that is right outside of the Palazzo Casino. If you have one restaurant to splurge on in Vegas then this is the one that I recommend splurging on.

I had the Japanese Waygu and Chris ordered the American Wagyu. We also had Mushrooms, Cream Spinach and Buffalo Cauliflower. We saved no room for dessert here. The food was amazing. Chris isn’t much of a bourbon drinker anymore but they have so many options for bourbon trolley that they bring right to your table and serve. It’s a really cool experience. I stuck to my glass of Champagne and soda water with dinner.

The aesthetic is a contemporary twist on a modern steakhouse.

Usher

Chris and I usually lay low during our Vegas trips but since we hadn’t been to a concert since before the pandemic, we splurged and bought tickets for Usher. The concert was really late for me but I managed to stay awake and I’m so glad I did. I’m usually more of a Country girl but this concert was upbeat and so full of energy. I was reliving my TRL days listening to some of his late 90’s and early 2000’s hits. Usher now has a residency at Ceasar’s Palace so he should be performing there off and on all year. I would check it out if you enjoy R&B music and a fun concert!

SW Steakhouse

Night 3, we weren’t sure if we would have time for a nice dinner since I had to work all day but we ended up still making it work. After I got done at Market, Chris and I walked over to the Wynn and got in at SW Steakhouse for dinner. We sat outside and the view was so nice. It overlooks a small little lake area with a waterfall and lights that turn on at night. It was a tad hot but still pleasant to sit out there. Chris and I both had steaks one last time to compare to the other restaurants. The meal was very good and I definitely would recommend eating there if you travel to Vegas.

Juice Farm

If you know me then you know that I love cold-pressed juices so another reason why I love staying at the Venetian is that they have a Juice Farm on site. The Palazzo has one too but it was currently closed so I would walk daily to the one at the Venetian to get my green juice fix.

Sushisamba

On the very last night in Vegas, Taylor and I went to Sushisamba for dinner. I was craving Sushi one last time before we headed home but Mizumi was closed. Sushisamba was right in our hotel and had an opening so we decided to give it a try. I had the Rock Shrimp, A sushi roll and the Seabass Robata. The Rock shrimp was definitely the highlight of the meal.

We also fit in a little Blackjack at the casinos and shopping too before and after working with the buyers. It was such a great trip and I hope we can go back in 2022!
