Another yummy pumpkin recipe that would be great to serve as a dessert or side dish are these pumpkin pie twists! I guarantee you have most of the ingredients already on hand at home, and these are pretty simple to make. They were a hit with my kiddos even to the point of them begging for them as their breakfast. We love all things fall and pumpkin related in our home. So these were perfect!
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp pumpkin spice
1 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp butter
1 tube of crescent rolls
whipped cream, for dipping
Follow these simple steps for the pumpkin pie twists:
1: Grab a cutting board and spread out your crescent roll dough evenly. Now gently cut the dough in half making sure you have two identical pieces.
2: In a mixing bowl, combine the maple syrup, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin puree. Spread the mixture evenly on one of the pieces of dough. Place the second piece of dough directly on top making sure to line up all the edges.
3: With a pizza cutter, cut the dough into strips about 3/4-1 inch wide.
4: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and gently place the cut strips onto the baking sheet.
5: Now twist each dough strip by picking up one end and twisting it about 2-3 times. Repeat with the other end. In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, sugar and cinnamon together and then gently coat each strip with the mixture.
6: Bake for about 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Carefully remove the pumpkin pie twists from the oven and place them on a serving dish or plate. Serve with whip cream for dipping or my favorite fall dip, whipped pumpkin dip. (Stay tuned for that recipe!)
This would be a fun recipe to do with your kiddos although I would recommend the kids being a little older. Reese wanted to help, and she did a great job assisting me with mixing some of the ingredients together but then we let the big kids take over. I would love to see your variation of this recipe and all your pumpkin creations. So make sure to tag me! Have fun baking, friends!
